This is very important.If you are getting into your car in a public parking lot make sure to remember and do the following:
Be always alert and LOOK AROUND YOU. Look into your car and all the locks of your car it it's not so darkly tinted. Check the passenger side floor, door and seat and also the back seats.
If your car is parked next to a VAN, if you are not sure if someone is inside the VAN or if you are suspicious, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers or bad elements attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the woman is attempting to get into their cars. Just like a movie scene?
Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle and also the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, be alert.
Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry, to be paranoid than to be dead.

You're right - better to be safe than sorry, to be paranoid than to be dead. We are now dependent on parking spaces at shopping malls, etc. This is a good advice that everybody should heed.
